BECAUSE I REMEMBER A DREAM I HAD.
FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS.
Granted, I only remember half of it, but it's the only half that matters, trust me on that.
Okay, so I'm playing some fighting game that plays like some unholy combination of Super Smash Bros and Shrek SuperSlam, but in first person. And it includes the most random lineup of characters, one of them was Spinal.
Yeah, like, that Spinal. Straight up that Spinal. Already this game is in some deep shit.
My opponent is a featureless alien with a really scrunched up, twisted face that could open to reveal a single eye. It was kinda freaky actually but didn't phase me at the time considering I was a centuries-old maniacal skeleton ghost pirate.
At the bottom of the stage resides a giant shark that will surface and kill everyone should the game go on for too long. Apparently this feature cannot be turned off, because fuck you.
After a few rounds, something strange happened. The game had gone on for a lengthy period of time yet the shark never came up to attack us. We stopped fighting and waited for something to happen.
It must have been ten minutes before we saw it.
Walking on the ocean, Jesus-style.
Towards us.
With a dead-eyed glare and a creepy smile.
I'm not joking.
Complete with terrifying music and the GTA2 announcer saying "Here comes the Griiiiinch!"
He just walked in from the ocean, from one side of the stage to another. Looking right through us, walking right past us.
He stood there for a while, and the other player and I decided to attack him.
That was a big mistake.
The moment, the exact split-second I pressed a button to attack him, he turned around immediately and started walking towards me, much faster than before.
The last thing I saw was the Grinch inches away from my face.
The stage we were playing on was a wrecked boat in a harbor.
